Our Wedding

Fer and Pat met on Hinge in Washington, D.C., in November 2023, not long after Pat moved back to the East Coast from Washington State. On their second date, Fer dropped the news that she would soon be going home for three weeks to visit her family in Mexico City around the upcoming holidays. Moving past the initial shock, Pat realized that time was of the essence. A flurry of dates followed as they spent the ensuing weeks together, visiting museums and restaurants, running in Rock Creek Park, and encouraging Milo to end his obstructionist campaign and to accept Pat into his life. Upon Fer’s return to DC in 2024, they picked up where they had left off, training for Fer’s many races and hiking throughout the DMV. After initially serving as a supportive training partner and loyal triathlon sherpa, Pat was inspired by Fer to unretire from competitive racing after several years. Pat joined Fer at an 8-mile trail race in the mountains of North Carolina, suffering greatly only to lose to Fer when he got lost on the course. Still, a win is a win! Summer brought road trips and camping at Seneca Rocks, WV and Acadia National Park, along with Fer’s naturalization as a U.S. citizen, and a trip to Atlantic City for her triathlon national championships. Fer and Pat wrapped up the summer by completing their first triathlon together in Rock Hall, MD. After spending Thanksgiving with Pat’s family in Pennsylvania, they spent the holidays in Mexico City, meeting Fer’s family, kayaking Xochimilco at sunrise, running the San Silvestre 12k on New Years Eve, and visiting Prado Norte. A routine game of fetch in the park with Milo in January 2025 led to Fer and Pat’s engagement. After taking a celebratory trip to New York, watching an Eagles Super Bowl win with friends, and running the Cherry Blossom 10-miler together, Fer and Pat married in a simple ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 12, 2025. In May, Fer’s long hours of pool training enabled her to finish El Cruce, a marathon 10km swim from Cancun to Isla Mujeres (with Pat swimming a modest 4km in solidarity) – a goal born of an early movie date to see Young Woman &amp; The Sea. Several friends and family members joined the trip to lend support, and all enjoyed some quality beach time, not counting the three hours spent stranded in the heat waiting for a ferry after the swim. Since then, Fer and Pat continue to swim, bike, and run together and to enjoy time with Milo, while planning their December wedding. They are so excited to celebrate their love for each other with you soon in Tequesquitengo!

How to get to MexicoIf you are traveling from outside of Mexico, the nearest and most convenient airport is the Mexico City International Airport Benito Juarez (MEX). This is the primary international airport serving the greater Mexico City region and is the hub for the SkyTeam (Delta, Aeromexico). How to get to Tequesquitengo, MorelosThe wedding venue is located in Tequesquitengo, Morelos about 1.5 - 2 hours away from Mexico City. If you do not have a car, we recommend taking a shuttle or Taxi/Uber ($60-$70 dollars). We can help coordinate shuttle transportation for those interested. ParkingThe wedding venue has parking available.

Accommodations

Mexico City, or locally referred to as CDMX, is a vibrant city full of options. If you are traveling to Mexico, we highly recommend you to spend some time in Fer’s hometown CDMX. Historical and Cultural Experiences Explore the Centro Historico: Walk through el Zocalo, visit the Cathedral, Palacio de Bellas Artes and Diego Rivera murals at the Department of Education, stop at Sanborns de los Azulejos or explore the Aztec ruins at Templo Mayor. The Turibus (hop-on hop-off) is a good alternative to hit several spots. If you want to get a nice view, grab a coffee or drink at one of the rooftops around el Zocalo: Terraza Catedral, Terraza Gran Hotel or Balcon del Zocalo. For lunch or dinner, we would recommend: Azul Histórico, El Cardenal, La Casa de las Sirenas. Taquería El Califa de Leon and Tacos de Canasta El Flaco. Note that restaurants tend to fill up and reservations are highly encouraged. Taquerias are more fast casual. Visit Museums and Chapultepec: The biggest museum highlight is Museo de Antropologia e Historia. This is a big museum so plan enough time when visiting. While at Chapultepec, you can also visit Castillo de Chapultepec, the Museo Tamayo, Museo de Arte Moderno and the zoo. Polanco neighborhood is within walking distance and offers tons of food options. A few favorites include: Pujol, Quintonil, El Bajío, Guzina Oaxaca, Entremar and tacos El Turix. See Teotihuacan ruins: Take a day trip to the ancient city of Teotihuacan about 90 minutes from Mexico City. A highly recommended experience is to do the hot air balloon at sunrise over the Teotihuacan pyramids. Wander through Coyoacán: Coyoacán is a charming neighborhood, with cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and known for having Frida Kahlo’s Museum. The main attraction is Frida Kahlo’s Museum. Tickets sell out days in advance so we encourage you to buy them in advance if you plan to visit. Take a stroll through el Jardin Centenario and the Coyoacan market. Recommended restaurants in Coyoacan: San Angel Inn, Los Danzantes Coyoacán and Elora.&nbsp; Experience Xochimilco: Take a boat ride through the canals of Xochimilco on a colorful “trajinera” boat, and enjoy the local food and festive atmosphere. If you want an ecotouristic experience, we recommend kayaking through the Xochimilco canals. Last year, Pat and Fer did a kayak tour at sunrise that was stunning.&nbsp; Attend a Lucha Libre show: Experience the traditional Mexican wrestling full of colorful masks and high-flying moves. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster. We recommend the Arena Mexico venue, so check their schedule if you’re planning to attend a show. More Food Experiences If you are a foodie, CDMX will be your playground. Here are several recommendations:&nbsp; Mexican: Fugaz (Mexican mediterranean fusion), Pargot Restaurante, Rosetta, Quintonil, Pujol, Sud777 and Expendio de Maiz. Seafood options: Contramar, Mi Compa Chava, Mariscos Don Vergas, Treze con Z, Osteria del Becco and Marea Asian: Galanga Thai, Bao Bao Taiwanese Eatery, Makan, Fideo Gordo (Pan-Asian), Umai Sushi and Ling Ling. Italian: Sartoria and Mattea. French: Maximo Bistrot, Bistrot Arlequin and Eloise. A little of everything: Meroma, Masala y Maiz, Polpo, Niddo, Salazar and Lardo.
